Our Playgrounds

Undersurfacing & Edging

Safe & Durable Surfaces

Undersurfacing is an important part of playground safety. The material used, depth and installation all contribute to a playground surface’s impact-absorbing qualities and longevity. We use a range of solid and loose ‘softfall’ surface materials, including durable and low maintenance rubber tiles, as well as less expensive loose material options such as mulch. Where loose ‘softfall’ is the best option, we can install rubber pads at the base of high impact equipment such as slides and swings to reduce the displacement of the mulch over time and to enhance safety.

Undersurfacing is designed and installed in compliance with Australian Standards (AS/NZS 4422:2004) and Department of Education and Early Childhood Development Guidelines for (Victorian) Government Schools. Part of this compliance work includes ensuring that your site has adequate drainage to maximise the life of your surface and prevent puddle formation. Before installation, our earth moving equipment can assist with site preparation.

We offer a range of edging options including Ecopine, recycled plastic, durable concrete and curved rubber edging. There are plenty of profiles and sizes to choose from, and borders can be installed above or below the ground depending on your needs.
